#RecoverBetter is the theme of #HumanRightsDay2020. It is inspired by needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic and focuses on the need to “build back better” by ensuring Human Rights are central to #recovery efforts.

From the @UnitedNations:
“We will reach our common global goals only if we are able to create equal opportunities for all, address the failures exposed and exploited by COVID-19, and apply human rights standards to tackle entrenched, systematic, and intergenerational inequalities, exclusion, and discrimination.”

Observed every year on December 10, Human Rights Day is an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of human rights in building (and re-building) the world we want, the need for global solidarity, as well as our interconnectedness and shared humanity.

At Alsana, we always say that healing happens in relationships, and today we reflect on the many layers of that truth and the need for advocacy that accompanies them. We also encourage everyone in our community to put their unique gifts into action and to leave the world a little better than they found it, today and every day. ❤

🤓 DID YOU KNOW: Human Rights Day was adopted by the #UnitedNations General Assembly in 1948. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document that proclaims the inalienable rights to which everyone is entitled as a human being. Available in more than 500 languages, it is the most translated document in the world!
